Wilderness shoutout

Print This Post Print This Post

This blog is dedicated to those believers who feel like they are in the wilderness. What is that?

The Hebrew meaning of wilderness is “the arrangement of things to create order.1

1 Cor. 14:33, “For God is not [the author] of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”

I am reminded of when someone breaks a bone in their body, but it is not setting correctly so the doctor must break the bone again in order to set it the right way. This must be agony for the patient, but it is for the patient’s well-being. The initial pain is almost unbearable, but is necessary for the results.

Heb. 12:7, “Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?”

Heb. 12:11, “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”

So, how do we endure? Is God going to browbeat us into obedience? I say no. Chapter and verse brother please?

Rom. 1:17, Gal. 2:20, Gal. 3:11, Heb. 10:38

“The just shall live by faith.” This faith is His faith in us that we partake of by revelation. This is how we can be more than conquerors in the wilderness. Jesus went into the wilderness and came out in the power of the Holy Spirit as the Last Adam bringing obedience unto righteousness and holiness sanctifying those who would believe on Him. The fullness of the Godhead dwells in Him.

The wilderness can be an awesome place to be and how we respond in this environment will take us to where we are going. Whether it be in circles to insanity or onward with vision and purpose in His will, Phil. 3:13-14.

In the wilderness, we are not led by our souls, understanding, intellect, sight, feelings, emotions, other’s opinions, hunches, but by revelation of Him in us.

Deu. 8:2, “And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, [and] to prove thee, to know what [was] in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.”

Our righteousness is no longer based on law-keeping. Christ is our righteousness, 1 Cor. 1:30, Phil. 3:9.

I believe the order that is created from the wilderness is created by His grace through faith. Romans 5:1-5.

The bible says Jesus died for our salvation and that we might know God and His overflowing love for us. I believe Jesus also died for our motive. Our motive prior to salvation was contrary to us and against our best interest. Our motive was used to betray us and spiritually kill us, Rom. 7:11. We were spiritual dead in our trespasses and sins without knowledge of Him.

In the wilderness, there is potential and opportunity to grow in His motive and will in us by the renewing of our minds, Rom. 12:2. This imparts his nature and grace into us making us (mature) sons of God, Rom. 8:14. Order almost seems to be a manifestation of His will in this creation. Reminds me of redemption, Eph. 1:10.

Elijah prayed for rain..

Today, 06/25/10, 4:00 PM CST, the boys and I were driving home. I noticed the lawn was dry and commented. Immediately, Aaron said, “Lord, I pray for rain so the yard does not stay dry. It needs water.” I said, “Just like Elijah.”

It is 93 degrees right now. No clouds. Forecast said partly cloudy. I see nothing but sun. Well, I’d say one minute or so after my eight year old prayed this we hear a clap of thunder. I wasn’t sure if I heard what I thought I heard and then Aaron said, “Daddy, I heard thunder.” Ben said, “Yep, you got the answer. Let’s play a video game.” Amazing. Thank you Lord for Your beautiful faith in these boys. Bless them Lord.

“Phroneo” disappointment

Building on Set your affection..

Short quote from the above blog,

Phroneo includes a person’s affections and will as well as one’s reasoning.  In other words phroneo refers not simply to intellectual activity but also to direction and purpose of heart.

I could easily see the phroneo affection1 (Col. 3:2) as a catalyst to people who have high highs and low lows. The psychiatric term is bi-polar. I believe the biblical term is carnal minded, Rom. 8:6,7. It is an emotional and mental roller coaster, but really is spiritual. The person would be habitually letting themselves down or fulfilling themselves creating these highs and lows. We cannot fix ourselves. A whole pattern of a man is necessary in order to know what wholeness is. This pattern is the revelation of Christ in us. The new person in us.

Proverbs 13:12 says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick (dysfunctional), but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.”

Jesus is the longing fulfilled in us. He is life, John 14:6. He is the passive, ever-eager, perpetual, joyful expectation in us. He is the Hope of Glory! Col. 1:27, Rom. 5:2, Eph. 1:18. This hope predicates on His faith in us because “His faith is the substance of things hoped for.” I have hope because of faith. In this, a righteousness is revealed from faith to faith. Christ is our righteousness.

A good tangent. So, hope deferred is when I could see the “the manifestations of the flesh” occur. And they don’t have to. We have grace. I believe these manifestations of the old nature are fear-based and rooted in self-imposed law of the old nature.

Gal. 5:19-21. “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Depending on the focus of the  phroneo affection1, soulish-disappointment can physically manifest through fear. Fear occurred possibly because a lie was thought to be true, Rom. 7:11, Gal. 5:1. The just shall live by His faith in them. We have not been given a Spirit of fear again unto bondage and a yoke of slavery.

In this soulish-disappointment, peptides are created. See blog Peptides are miniscule pieces of protein. Dopamine and serotonin levels in the body are effected. “Dopamine is also associated with a person’s mood and cognitive qualities such as attention.2” “When serotonin levels become unbalanced, a person may experience depression.3” “A psychological reward is a process that reinforces behavior4.” So, through fear and self-imposed law which creates the fear and empowers the old man the manifestations of the flesh occur. There is a potential for strongholds or yokes. In Christ, the strongholds and yokes are demolished. He nailed the power of self-imposed law to the cross. Our old man died with Him to the power of the law. Thank you Lord.

A psychologist cannot save me, but the High Priest in the order of Melchizedek does. Jesus means “salvation.” Salvation is triune: spirit, soul & body.

Seed planted

Christ is the hope of glory and Word of God. The logos or word of God is a like a seed of ever-eager expectation (hope of glory).

A mustard seed is planted. You know the very small seed is hidden in the ground even though you can’t see it. The seed has all potential to do and be what it was purposed to be. How do you know that the seed will grow without seeing it? By His faith and grace according to revelation of the word. Faith gives understanding.

I know this Seed in me, Gal. 3:16. Christ is the eternal, immortal, all-powerful Seed. And by faith, I can have understanding of its potential everyday. The potential is to change and redeem the planet. Thank you Father for your Son. Thank you for your mercy and loving-kindness.

Koinonia Energes

Philemon 1:6

(KJV) “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”

HOPOS KOINONIA SOU PISTIS GINOMAI ENERGES EN EPIGNOSIS PAS AGATHOS HO EN HYMIN EIS CHRISTOS JESOUS

Paraphrase:

That the fellowship (indescribable intimate union and bond) of your (His) faith may become godly life-energy by the revelatory knowledge of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

This ENERGES, or working godly life-energy, manifests or IS by EPIGNOSIS, revelation of Christ in us by hearing the word. It affects the body and soul. It is the godly-life energy flowing to the members of our body to be weapons or forces of righteousness. The spiritual knowledge and understanding of His will, Col. 1:9, has an affect on our will. His energy or ZOE life is imparted in this revelation. It is the godly-life energy that supernaturally metamorphosis’s our brain chemistry and body.

Phillippians 2:13

(KJV) “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure.”

Colossians 1:9

(KJV) “For this cause we also, since the day we heard [it], do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;”

Controlling the future

Print This Post Print This Post

Matt. 6:34 (NIV), “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”

If we worry about tomorrow then we could be trying to control or predict the future. In self-strength apart from His faith in us, vain imaginations (thoughts inspired by self-imposed law and fear) are created that self-imposed law attaches to. In turn, the fear of not fulfilling those expectations manifests.

The Word says, “The just shall live by faith.” Faith is not based on what we assume, think or suppose. Faith is revelatory and not time-based. Love, hope and faith do not hinge on fear, but on Him in us. Christ is the pattern of the Last Man or Adam. His pattern in us is according to grace, truth and faith.

When Lazarus died Jesus did not panic. Why? The fullness of the Godhead dwells in Him bodily. What does that mean? It means all faith is in Him. Moreover, all FULLNESS. He does not lack. He is all self-sufficient. He said, “I AM the resurrection and the life.” Before the foundations of the earth, He IS and always will BE.

He was moved with compassion and love to do the will of Him who sent Him and raised Lazarus from the dead.

“Grace” IN your hearts

Print This Post Print This Post

This morning as I was waking up, 02/17/10, saw a shadow over the heart, but in Christ the heart (His motive by the faith of Him) is the substance of His will (Heb. 10 Aramaic NT). He is the tupos, pattern or mold of mankind. Adam was created in HIS image. Colossians or Romans says, “We have the true circumcision of the heart made by the Spirit of the Living God!” The law is a shadow of the substance of His will or good things to come  and not the realities themselves.

Col. 3:16, “16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Grace in your hearts by revelation of Him. Revelation of Him by hearing and hearing the unveiled Word changes motive.

Peace makes the call

Col. 3:15, “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” Peace, by Greek definition, is the arbitrating umpire or referee in a competition.

Competition of what? How about competition of self-imposed law versus self. Self-imposed law says, “You aren’t good enough unless you do this then you’re good enough.” It also says, “You are good enough because you did do this.” So, there is the competition. Self always looses. Chapter and verse. Okay. Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” So, what has everyone fallen short of? The glory of God. Paul said, “No one is righteous. Not even one”, Rom. 3:10.

Righteousness is not based on presumption, assumption, speculation, a guess, good morals, good ethics, how nice someone is, or even if they are in ministry. Righteousness is partaking of the divine intrinsic nature rooted in revelation of Christ in us.

He IS peace. He made the Jew and Gentile into ONE man in Himself! In doing  so, the competition is over. Glory. Thank you Lord.

What is the point here? In Christ, I can BE. Huh? I can BE. If I can BE then I don’t have to strive to BE, but AM in Him by grace. I can BE because I partake of His grace, righteousness and peace.

Phil. 3:9, “And be found in him (BE), not having mine own righteousness (self-imposed law also), which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by (HIS) faith:”

Shekinah

Print This Post Print This Post

When the glory of the Lord came down and filled the tabernacle for the first time it must have been an awesome spectacle to behold. God was truly pleased with His people, not because of their goodness but because their sins were covered. The etymology of the dwelling or presence of God is the Hebrew word Sh’cheenah or as we pronounce it Shekinah. The term Shekinah was many times used interchangeably with the word God. In the Jewish mind it always spoke of the fact that He “dwelt in” or “rested upon” those who merited His favor, whether an individual, a community, or the entire Jewish people.

Scholars have always seen a striking connection between the concept of the Shekinah and the idea of Logos “The Word” which Philo introduced into Jewish philosophical thinking. Of course a much greater emphasis was placed upon the word Logos when the apostle John introduced his gospel account of the life of Jesus with these suggestive words:1

Christ being the Priest, Tabernacle and Sacrifice enables us by His blood to enter the Holy of Holies which i the presence of God the Father. Our body and the Body of Christ is the Tabernacle by which His Logos and Shekinah glory dwells by revelation. The Way, His flesh, has been made to the Father in us by revelation of Him according to His grace and faith. Also, to the Hebrew mind, a word can be a thing or become a thing, substance or creation. We are becoming Logos substance through Him in the Spirit.

Onward!

If a brother or sister stumbles or even utterly falls they do not start over, but continue onward. As believers, I am of the opinion we can only go forward, Phil. 3:13, and NOT start over. Rom. 8:1 says, “There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.” Gal. 2:18 says, “If I rebuild what I destroyed, I prove that I am a lawbreaker.”

Rebuilding what I destroyed is ’starting over.’ This is trying to hit the bulls-eye, but there isn’t one. His righteousness in us is not compelled to gain self-approval for peace. He is our peace, Eph. 2:14. If our nature is intrinsically righteous according to revelation and grace then we ARE. If we ARE then we don’t have to try to be or even try to sustain ourselves, but grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ. He keeps us.
